DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur, organized a startup pitch competition titled "Vision to Venture" under the umbrella theme "Identify. Innovate. Pitch." The event was designed to evaluate early- stage and growth-stage startup venture presentations through a structured, objective, and standardized framework. To ensure fair scoring and actionable feedback, presentations were assessed using a 100-point evaluation matrix divided into five core pillars. Each pillar carried an equal weightage of 20 points, balancing quantitative metrics with qualitative execution capabilities:
1. Problem & Market Opportunity - Participating teams were evaluated on whether their value thesis was rooted in a validated, urgent customer pain point backed by deep customer discovery rather than theoretical concepts. Key evaluation factors included target persona identification, quantifiable friction metrics (such as operational downtime or revenue loss), user empathy, and domain expertise.
2. Solution & Value Proposition - Evaluators looked for clean architecture without unnecessary jargon, a quantified value proposition showing significant improvements (in speed, cost, or performance), and long-term defensibility/moats (e.g., IP, network effects, or structural switching costs).
3. Business Model & Go-To-Market Opportunity - Startups were scored on revenue model transparency & Go-To-Market (GTM) Strategy: Teams presented actionable, multi-channel acquisition models, conversion.
4. Team & Execution Capability - Evaluators assessed the founding team's complementary skill sets across technical, commercial, and domain expertise, as well as their prior track records and plans for filling key leadership gaps.
5. Pitch Presentation & Q&A Performance - Clarity, logical structure, engagement, and strict adherence to time limits.
