Event Report Two-Day Capsule Course on Public Law Skills In Collaboration with CNS Juris 1st – 2nd August 2025

Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur, in collaboration with CNS Juris, Pune based law firm, successfully organized a two-day Capsule Course on Public Law Skills on August 1–2, 2025. The event aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical legal knowledge and practical application, focusing on skill development in various domains of public law.

The session commenced with a welcome address and felicitation ceremony led by the Deputy Director, setting a professional and enthusiastic tone for the program.

Event objectives-

The primary objective of the course was to equip budding legal professionals with practical skills and functional knowledge in the field of public law, and to meet with the course objectives and the 4 SDG goal for quality education.

This capsule course syllabus includes various drafts and conveyance including;

  • Drafting of legal agreements
  • Arbitration procedures
  • Writ petitions
  • RTI mechanisms
  • Public interest litigation
  • Cross-border legal documentation
  • Special leave petition
  • Contempt proceeding
  • Affidavit etc.

Resource Persons

Adv. Murtaza Chherawala and Adv. Hussain Nalwala, Partners at CNS Juris, conducted the sessions. Their interactive and experience-driven approach helped students connect legal doctrines to real-world legal practice.

Expected outcome of the event –

On the successful completion of the course, the student will be able to

  2. To develop basic skills and techniques needed for public law practice. (CO-2).
  3. To prepare students practice-ready by equipping them with the right tools. (CO-3).

    Legal due diligence, lock-in clauses, indemnification

    Distinction between license and possession

  • Commercial Contracts & Property Valuation

    Advertising rights agreements with real-life examples

  • Partnership Agreements

    Structuring deeds, confidentiality, registration, liability clauses

    Illustrated through collaborative case-based scenarios

  • Affidavit

Day 2: Advanced Public Law Mechanisms

  • Writs and Their Drafting

    Types: Habeas Corpus, Mandamus, Certiorari, Prohibition, Quo Warranto

    Strategic considerations in drafting and filing writs

  • Arbitration and Dispute Resolution

    Seat vs. venue, arbitrator selection, notice of invocation

    Interim reliefs under Sections 9 & 17 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act

  • Right to Information (RTI) Act

    Historical background, objectives, process of filing

    Exemptions, severability doctrine, appellate remedies

  • Special Leave Petition (SLP)

    Drafting and procedural framework under Article 136 of the Constitution

  • Public Interest Litigation (PIL)

    Evolution, scope, and social significance in the Indian context

  • International Joint Ventures & Trademark Licensing

    Due diligence, non-compete clauses, technology transfers

    FEMA and RBI compliance for cross-border deals

Outcome and Impact

192 students attended the capsule course of 10 hours. After learning and practical sessions, the faculty in charge of the subject evaluated Students. Below are the observations of the capsule course;

Conclusion

The program concluded with a course assessment to evaluate participant understanding, followed by a vote of thanks acknowledging the efforts of the speakers, organizing committee, and support staff.
