IP Pursuit 2.0
On 24th March 2026, Symbiosis Law school, Nagpur, through its Centre for Intellectual Property Rights and Advocacy (CIPRA), successfully organised a quiz competition titled “ IP Pursuit 2.0”. This competition was organised to provide students with a fun and knowledgeable way to test their skill in intellectual property rights. Helping the students to garner more knowledge and take efforts in learning about IPR.

REPORT OF QUIZ COMPETITION IP PURSUIT 2.0

Objective

The primary goal was to help students test their knowledge in the field of IPR. Evaluate knowledge of fundamental concepts like copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets. Identify the purpose and importance of each type of intellectual property protection. Evaluate awareness of current trends, technological advancements, and emerging challenges in the field of intellectual property.

Registration and Attendance

The event saw an enthusiastic response, with more than 50 students registering for the competition. This overwhelming participation highlights the growing interest in Intellectual Property Law among law students and CIPRA's successful outreach.

Program ScheduleThe competition was well-structured and adhered to the following schedule:

Inauguration Ceremony (10:00 AM - 10:20 AM)

The event began with a welcome address, from our masters of the ceremony for the event. That helps at a tone for the entire event. The quiz Masters explained the rules of the event and made participants aware as to how the event is going to proceed. 

ROUND I: The Pictionary Round (10:20 AM - 10:45 AM)

The first round of the quiz competition was conducted via an online software named Kahoot! a total of 27 teams (54 participants) were present in this round. A total of 30 questions were asked, and a total time of 15 seconds per question was given. The results were declared immediately after the round concluded and the top 20 teams proceeded to the next round.

Result Announcement (10:45 AM – 11:00 AM)

Round II: Crossword (11:00 AM - 11:30 AM)

The second round was the crossword puzzle competition which was conducted with a total of 20 teams (40 participants) qualified in the present round. A total of 12 questions were asked and a total time of 20 minute for the round was given to all the participants. Once the rounds concluded, the results were declared immediately after the rounds and the top 10 teams proceeded to the next round.

Round III: Bounce and Pounce (11:45 AM - 12:30 PM)

In Round 3, each of the 10 qualifying teams faced two questions without multiple-choice options. Teams had 20 seconds to provide a correct answer for 5 points. To keep the competition dynamic, any non-designated team could “Pounce” by calling out and submitting a written answer before a “Bounce” was triggered. A correct pounce earned 5 points, but a mistake resulted in a 5-point deduction. If the designated team failed to answer, then the question “Bounced” to the next team in sequence for 10 seconds and 2 points were awarded. No pouncing was permitted once the bounce phase had already begun. By the end of this round, the 4 teams with the highest cumulative scores advanced to Round 4.

LUNCH BREAK (12:50 PM – 1:50 PM)

Round IV: Aim to Claim (2:00 PM - 2:30 PM)

The fourth round of the quiz competition was called as Aim to Claim round (Semi-final Round). There were total four teams (8 participants) qualified to this round. Each team were asked 6 questions, where the question shall carry options (MCQ’s). A team providing the correct answer shall be awarded 5 points upon answering correctly, the team member shall be then granted an opportunity to aim and throw the ball into a basket placed at a designated distance. If the team member successfully scores the ball into the basket, then an additional 5 points shall be awarded to the team, making a total of 10 points for that question. No points shall be awarded for incorrect answers. The winners of the 2 face-offs were qualified for the Final Rounds.

Result Announcement (2:30 PM – 2:40 PM)

Round V: Rapid Fire (2:40 PM - 3:10 PM)

The final round of the quiz competition was Rapid Fire (Final). Each team were allotted 1 minute to answer as many questions as possible. The questions were asked to the participants in quick succession without any interval. Each correct answer shall carry 1 point. One team answered 9 questions correctly, while the other team answered 12 questions. The team who secured the highest number of correct answers at the end of rapid fire were declared as the Winner of the IP Pursuit 2.0.

The quiz competition was concluded by a vote of thanks given by the master of the ceremony, thanking all the participants for Participating enthusiastically.

Event Outcome :

Acknowledgments

The event was organized under the guidance of Mr. Karun Sanjaya, Faculty-in-Charge of CIPRA and Assistant Professor at Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur. The student convenors, Mr. Swatantra Kumar and Ms. Pridhvi Sindhu Jayan, played a key role in coordinating the event.
