The Placement Cell, Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur organized a Webinar on "Importance and Future of Arbitration Laws in India" on 18th July, 2020. delivered by Adv. Tariq Khan. Adv. Tariq Khan is presently working as Principal Associate, Dispute Resolution - Advani & Co. New Delhi.
Adv. Tariq Khan, was introduced by Prof. (Dr.) Sachin Tripathi, Assistant Professor at Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur. The Welcome Address was given by Dr. Sukhvinder Singh Dari, Director – Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur. Adv. Tariq Khan has completed B.A. LL.B (Hons.) from Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia. Inspite of his busy schedule at Advani & Co., Adv Tariq Khan has taken special time out for teaching and speaking engagements
Adv. Tariq Khan began with explaining the students about Alternate Dispute Resolution and what constitutes Arbitration. He further explained that Arbitration is a procedure in which a dispute is submitted, by agreement of the parties, to one or more arbitrators who make a binding decision on the dispute. He further explained that a party’s right to refer a dispute to arbitration depends on the existence of an agreement also called the “arbitration agreement” between them and the other parties to the dispute that the dispute may be referred to arbitration.
He quoted Sr. Adv. Fali S. Nariman, “The Future of arbitration is bright as future of litigation is not" while impressing the audience with the scope of Arbitration. He further enlightened the students about how two parties negotiating a contract enter into an arbitration agreement. He further explained the important features responsible for the upswing in the popularity of arbitration include quick, convenient, expeditious resolution of the impending issues.
The session was followed by the Question & Answer session. The event was moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Sachin Tripathi and the Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. (Dr.) Shilpa Sharma, Faculty, Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur.
The seminar was attended by the students of SLS, Nagpur and many registered participants across the Nation.
