Former Judge, Supreme Court of India
Justice Sirpurkar became a Judge of Bombay High Court in 1992 and later transferred to the Madras High Court in December, 1997. He was elevated to Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court which he served from 25 July 2004 to 19 March 2005. He then assumed office of the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court on from 20 March 2005 up to 11 January 2007. Finally he was appointed a Judge of the Supreme court of India on 12 January 2007 and retired on 21 August 2011, after reaching the retiring age of 65. After retiring from the Supreme Court of India, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Competition Appellate Tribunal from July, 2012, following the retirement of Mr. Justice Arijit Pasayat from that position in May, 2012.
Justice Smt. V.A.Naik
Former Judge, Bombay High Court
Hon’ble Smt. Justice V. A. Naik was born on 3.5.1956. She completed her schooling from Mount Carmel School, Nagpur. Having secured Master’s Degree in History, she obtained LL.B. Degree from Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law, Nagpur. She was enrolled as an Advocate on 7th September 1981 and practiced under the able guidance of her father Shri V.R. Manohar, who is an eminent lawyer and former Advocate General for the State of Maharashtra. She practiced mainly on Civil and constitutional sides. During 1980 to 1990 she was associated with the Maharashtra Law Journal and the All India Reporter. She also worked as a Honorary Lecturer at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law, Nagpur for more than 10 years
Hon'ble Shri Justice S. Shukre
Hon'ble Shri Justice S. Shukre graduated from Pune University in 1980, and did his LL.B. in 1983 from Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Law College, Amravati affiliated to the then Nagpur University. He stood second in Order of Merit at the LL.B. examination, and is recipient of Late Kale Memorial Prize for having secured highest marks in Hindu law at LL.B examination. He commenced his legal practice at Amravati. He did LL.M. in Constitutional Law from the then Nagpur University. He has keen interest in sports and has represented M.J. College, Jalgaon in Inter-collegiate tournaments in Lawn Tennis and Badminton. He joined Judiciary as a Direct District Judge from Bar in the year 2000 and since then has worked as Principal District Judge, Kolhapur, Registrar (Administration), Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, Joint Director-Maharashtra Judicial Academy, Uttan, Thane, Principal District Judge, Nagpur and took charge as Registrar General, High Court Bombay on 17th March, 2011. Elevated as Judge of the Bombay High Court on 13th May, 2013.
Justice Kishor Jayram Rohee
Justice Kishor Jayram Rohee, B.A., LL.M. : Was born on January 6, 1947. He was enrolled as an Advocate on August 22, 1968. He practised for 5 years and six months in Akot (District : Akola) District Court and High Court Bench at Nagpur in Civil and Labour matters. He was Member, Industria Court, Nagpur, Joint District Judge, Ahmednagar and District & Session Judge, Yavatmal, Dhule, Nagpur and Solapur. He also worked as Director of Judicial Officers' Training Institute at Nagpur. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court with effect from August 29, 2003. He retired on January 6, 2009.

Ms. Smita Singh

She assists large number of clients in drafting reply to show cause notices/ appeals before departmental adjudication and appellate authorities. Smita also assists clients in filing appeals/ writ petitions and argues at the time of hearing before Appellate Tribunal, High Courts and Supreme Court. She also assists clients in seeking advance ruling before Authority for Advance Ruling or filing appeal before Appellate Authority Advance Rulings and arguing at the time of hearings.
Smita has written many articles on key Indirect Tax and GST issues which have been well appreciated. She had a very interesting session on Introduction to Indirect Taxes and GST with the students

Mr. Ramesh K. Vaidyanathan is the Founder and Managing Partner of the firm. He is a general corporate lawyer with varied experience in M&A, joint ventures, projects and infrastructure, aviation and franchising. Before founding Advaya, Ramesh had the opportunity to be in private practice as the Partner of a large law firm and the General Counsel of a large Indian infrastructure company.

He is an Information Assurance Consultant and presently works from Bangalore, India. He is an expert in the fields of Banking, Financial Services, Advertising and Marketing besides Cyber Law and Education. He currently heads Naavi.org which is a community interested in the emerging field of laws governing the Cyber Society. The goal of Naavi.org is to contribute towards building a Responsible Cyber Society.

Sanjay Arora, is an alumni of IIM Bangalore. He promoted Shells Advertising Inc. in 1987; one of central India’s largest advertising agencies, which has over a dozen awards for its campaigns to its credit. Sanjay was also the Chief Editor and Publisher of a once hugely popular monthly city newsmagazine called ‘The Happening Nagpur’. Mr. Lindsay Tortman
From Massey University, New Zealand
Lindsay’s research interests are in the area of misleading or deceptive conduct and corporate law. He has contributed to a number of company law publications in New Zealand and Australia including Company and Securities Law in New Zealand and Australian Corporation Law Principles and Practice. Lindsay has also authored books on corporate debt securities, misrepresentation and the Fair Trading Act and co-authored a book on misleading or deceptive conduct. He is an Overseas Reports Editor (New Zealand) for the Australian Journal of Competition and Consumer Law.
Lindsay is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. He is honorary solicitor for a number of charitable trusts and incorporated societies and is engaged in numerous university and community activities. His session on Corporate Personality with the students was very enlightening.
Prof. Mimi Samuel

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF LAWYERING SKILLS AND CO-DIRECTOR, LEGAL WRITING PROGRAM
After law school, Professor Mimi Samuel practiced business litigation for approximately eight years, first in Washington, D.C., at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, and then in San Francisco, at Thelen Marin Johnson & Bridges.
For almost two decades, Professor Samuel has worked with law students, lawyers, and judges overseas to help them improve their legal writing. In addition, she has consulted with law schools in a number of countries both on how to develop their legal writing curricula and how best to teach students to become effective writers. In 2011, she was awarded a Fulbright Specialist Scholarship to develop and implement the first legal writing class on Sri Lanka at the University of Peradeniya. In addition, she has worked Afghanistan, Botswana, China, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Liberia, Russia, South Africa, and Uganda. Professor Samuel has won two awards for her work overseas: In 2016, she was awarded a Global Legal Skills Award for promoting global legal skills around the world and the Terri LeClercq Courage Award, which is awarded by the Legal Writing Institute "to honor individuals who have demonstrated 'courage writ large' concerning legal writing and, in particular, Those LWI members who have demonstrated courage by doing, despite fear, something that most people would not do." In addition, in 2008, Professor Samuel was awarded the first Bronson Dillehay Award for her article Focus on Batson: Let the Cameras Roll. That award is given by the American Society of Trial Consultants for a proposal for addressing a significant and persistent problem that undermines both the right to a fair trial and public confidence in the legal system. Her sessions on Legal Writing & Lawyering Skills formed the foundational basics of the students and was instrumental in training them to think like a lawyer.
SLS - Nagpur intends to create an atmosphere, which is intellectually and aesthetically stimulating for the Students on the campus. The activities are informal and are intended to sensitize the academic world to other dimensions of human experience and knowledge, with the hope that would enrich the lives of students and make them aware of their social responsibilities. With this conviction the formation of the Cultural Cell has been formed. The Cultural Cell is mainly responsible for organizing cultural fests, organizing and celebrating festivals and other cultural events on campus after the classes.
Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur offers several legal workshops and seminars focused on specialized fields of law as well associated areas and related topics. These workshops and seminars bring together students, faculty, and others to learn about emerging erudition from leading thinkers, explore challenges in various fields of law, and engage in vibrant discussion.
Moot Court Association
Mooting as an activity aims to inculcate and improve the research, presentation and line of reasoning into students so as to equip the budding pleaders with all the court room etiquettes, research experience and advocacy skills. This initiative is well supported by a fully air-conditioned, tech-acoustic, and 220 capacity Moot Court Hall equipped with proper judicial settings. Therein the presentation and reasoning skills of students are screened and notified about the areas of improvements on a regular basis.
Legal Aid Centre
To fulfil the Constitutional pledge as laid down in Article 39-A of the Constitution of India, on 12th October 2019, the Legal Aid Cell was established in SLS-Nagpur. This Cell encourages our faculty and students to use their legal knowledge to render free legal services to the marginalized people in nearby villages and to fulfill the Constitutional goals & philosophy.
Seminar and Conferences
To provide the research-based education to get the practical understanding on the sub-fields of law, to enhance the knowledge towards particular sub-fields based on the interest of the students and to utilize the leisure time of the students productively, there are active centres functioning under the headship of the faculties of the Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur. In the last Semester, more than 43 variety of academic events such as seminars, conferences, competitions, debates, and workshops were conducted by these Centres for Specialization.
